REED BEDS BIRD HIDE BOARDWALK

Public BBQ

An easy boardwalk out to a double-storey bird hide near Mathoura, and one of the best-set-up bird walks anywhere. Twisting the information placards along the way plays the call of the bird described, and the descriptions themselves are written with genuine humour - birds sending postcards and bragging on social media. It suits every age and level of interest. There are free barbecues and a picnic table, so you can cook lunch and eat it in the hide. Parking is good and the long-drop toilet is well maintained. Come when there is water if you can, since the birds spread out when it is dry, though it is worth the stop either way. No dogs, because of the birdlife. The cafe down the road does a very good burger.
